"Boots on the ground" is an all-purpose term used to describe ground forces
actually fighting in a war or conflict.
We feel it's a pretty accurate term for our lives, because we'll be getting
married in June of 2011 and become a Navy family! But in the meantime, we're
spending a good portion of our time training for the Marine Corps Marathon
in October.
This year, we have chosen to run in honor of Cpl. Jonathan Porto, who was
killed in action in Afghanistan on March 14, 2010. It is a tremendous
privilege to run in honor of a fallen Marine, and we wanted to share our
experience with those who are interested in following along!
